What do you Have to Lose?

fullsizeoutput_cb9

Going to the store always involves a list for me. Lists ensure that I won’t forget all the items I want to buy. Sometimes our walk of faith can become a list checking frenzy. Causing us to check off our time with God like a grocery list when it isn’t about a list but a relationship.

The old and new, law and grace. One give us a set of guidelines speaking to us of our need of a Savior and the other gives us the desire to live for Him because of the power that raised Him from the dead the power of the Holy Spirit.

Law and Grace walking hand in hand alive and relevant today as the day God breathed them into existence. Even the prophets have not been abolished. All remain until the day that Jesus returns to set all things right according to His will and righteousness.

Precious One please do not wait to allow the law to shower you with its knowledge of the Savior. The longer you wait draws closer to being too late. And what you have to lose is eternity.

Shalom!

Traipsing Through God’s Word

fullsizeoutput_cb4

I love this picture. It was taken at a writers conference I have begun to attend every year. In fact, I am excited to be on the marketing team for next year’s conference! Our team is amazing and I am looking forward to learning so much from them as we all work alongside each other to bring a cumulative branch of knowledge and talent. More on that in the weeks and months to come.

If I love the picture, I love the Scripture even more. Many of you have followed me on this journey of restoration that began in January of 2017. This journey has been about physical and spiritual healing. It has not been easy nor has it been pretty but it has been necessary and through it all God has been faithful.

In January 2017 I was visiting a church and the Pastor’s message was on the restoration in Joel 2. I knew God was speaking directly to me. In February of that year I attended the writer’s conference and there in huge, lighted letters was the word RESTORE.

This year God gave me the word overcomer and while we are overcomer’s because Christ has overcome the world, that isn’t the Scripture he gave me. Rather, He gave me a verse from one of my favorite books of the Bible.

But this is what the LORD says: “Yes, captives will be taken from warriors, and plunder retrieved from the fierce; I will contend with those who contend with you, and your children I will save. Isaiah 49:25.

Not only does God promise restoration in Joel 2:25, In Isaiah 49:25 He promises to return the plunder the enemy stole! Oh, but it gets better. He promises to contend with those who contend with me AND my children HE will save!

As God’s restoration, overcoming and healing continue to come little by little and day by day, I am thankful for His reminders and promises that I often forget in the midst of the struggle.

I have told you all this so that you may have peace in me. Here on earth you will have many trials and sorrows. But take heart, because I have overcome the world.” John 16:33.

Shalom!

You Don’t Need to See to Believe

fullsizeoutput_b19

Well if this isn’t icing on the proverbial cake! I am slowly emerging from my season of restoration, like a caterpillar going through metamorphosis, after having spun its cocoon and waiting patiently, ( a virtue I am still acquiring), until that day. That perfect day God ordained and caused the caterpillar to slowly but steadily break through the cocoon it had earlier spun and reveal itself as a beautiful butterfly.

Many times I need sweet reminders like Luke 1:45. Seasons are but a blink of the eye for God, but for us they can seem extremely long and our faith and endurance are tested.

Fulfillment is God’s perfect completion. It is the end-phase, the final stage in the process. Our responsibility is simply to believe.

I will restore to you the years that the swarming locust has eaten…. Joel 2:25a

Shalom!

Waiting

fullsizeoutput_b00

Waiting. We wait in line at the grocery store, we wait patiently for our appointment time at our doctor’s office, some of us even wait eagerly, with anticipation and excitement, for the thrill of being strapped into a one-person seat, as a black cushioned harness comes down over our shoulders and secures us to our spot, signaling the end of waiting and the beginning of twists and turns and heights and drops, that cause our stomachs to reside momentarily in our throats.

Yet, waiting on God can be one of the hardest places to be. Especially when life mimics a roller coaster and we feel we need His answer right now.

Of all the definitions of waiting in Numbers 9:8, the most significant is to be present. We’ve already travelled the road of yesterday and the road to tomorrow is waiting to be stepped upon. But, the here and now is where we can be fully present, nurturing our relationship with Jesus, while we wait for His perfect timing and answer for what we’ve been waiting.

Shalom!

Just be Held

I was scheduled to speak at a moms event at church, when I received a call from my child’s school counselor. As I stepped outside to take the call, she told me she was calling mom to mom; friend to friend. My child wasn’t in any danger nor was she in trouble, rather this was an informative call.

There was a storm brewing in our lives.

When I walked back into the event, “Just be Held” by Casting Crowns was playing. I DID NOT want to listen to this song. I sat in defiance with my arms and legs crossed, bouncing my leg up and down, up and down in anger and pain. I was upset with my friend, who was the ministry leader of the event, for choosing this song, but she was simply being obedient. I praise God now that she did choose this song, but for a very long time I couldn’t listen whenever this song was playing.

With tears in my eyes, I was crying out to God, “Why are you allowing this?” The ‘this’ of that moment was nothing like the ‘this’ that was yet to come. The moment propelled our family into three years of a challenging struggle, that without our faith, could have destroyed us. It was a time of sifting, deliverance, and healing and the enemy took advantage, at every opportunity, to cause us to doubt Who God says he is.

I delivered my presentation and life went on. A few years later, I was cleaning up the files on my computer, and I came to my presentation. I was about to toss it in the garbage, when I very clearly heard the Holy Spirit speak to my heart, “Don’t do that.” I moved the cursor away from the garbage icon and dragged the document back to its original spot on my desktop.

This  morning as I sat and peacefully listened to “Just be Held,” I reflected back to the maelstrom of those years and the Holy Spirit showed me pictures of all the pieces He connected together. How He birthed His will in my life through those tumultuous years. How the presentation I almost threw away became my first ever published piece.

Storms will rage around us but you have a choice. Just be held.

So when you’re on your knees and answers seem so far away
You’re not alone, stop holding on and just be held
Your world’s not falling apart, it’s falling into place
I’m on the throne, stop holding on and just be held
Just be held, just be held. Casting Crowns.

Shalom!

The Booty

fullsizeoutput_a16

I just love God’s sense of humor! My verse this year is Isaiah 49:25. I was thanking God for returning the plunder the enemy has stolen throughout our ancestral lifetime and on a whim I looked up plunder in this verse and it literally means booty!

Isaiah 49:25 connects to my verse from 2017; Joel 2:25. Both verses are numbered 25. A coincidence? Maybe, but, then again, I don’t believe in coincidences. Last year God promised to restore everything the locusts had eaten. Believe me, I have held onto that verse for dear life! Now, he promises to retrieve the boo…er plunder the enemy has stolen!

Many, many times God will direct us to His promises in His word but we may not see them materialize in the physical right away. Sometimes we have to wait a really long time. PLEASE don’t give up! God is faithful, he can be nothing less. Faithfulness is His character.

Try this, move from praying about the promise He is giving you to thanking Him for producing His promise. This doesn’t guarantee you’ll receive His promises sooner than His perfect timing, BUT, you are praising and giving Him glory for something you haven’t even experienced yet. That is a faith booster!

May you always boldly approach His throne of grace.

Shalom!
