He Calms the Storms

fullsizeoutput_eb4.jpeg

I am thankful for the storms of life because they cause my wayward heart to turn toward Jesus with an opportunity to trust Him more. Storms whip up my faith and remind me of God’s promises. Jesus rebukes the wind and tells the waves, “Quiet! Be still!” Are you telling God how big the storms are in your life or are you telling the storms how big, mighty and powerful your God is?

Living in Hopefulness

fullsizeoutput_ea5

In June I attended the SoCal Christian Writers Conference. I had planned three full days of mostly non-fiction writing workshops. During one workshop, which was actually on website building etiquette, I overheard another instructor mention her workshop was next and that it was on magazine writing. I felt God nudge me to change my plans and attend this particular workshop, so I did.

As soon as the instructor started speaking God began showing me an article He wanted me to write. The information was coming so quickly I had to ask Him to slow down! I ended up pitching God’s idea, quite informally, to the instructor who happens to be the editor for SoCal Christian Voice. She loved the idea and encouraged me to write the article.

Then the doubt set in. “You’ve never written a magazine article before” “You don’t even know how to write a magazine article.” “What does writing a magazine article have to do with writing Bible studies?” Lies, lies, lies, because my God knows all about writing magazine articles.

Throughout the remainder of the conference God kept creating opportunities for me to talk with this editor, to the point it was becoming a bit awkward for me. One of the last conversations I had with her was when I noticed one of her latest books (it was hot off the press!) she had written with three other authors, one of the authors was there with her. I exclaimed that this was my passion and her colleague handed me her business card and told me if I ever needed help to contact her.

And that is what magazine writing has to do with Bible study writing. You see, their latest book was a Bible study.

Here is my third published piece (first of many with SoCal Christian Voice) and I am as giddy as if it were my first and I hope I ALWAYS feel that way! I encourage you to subscribe to SoCal Christian Voice (its free) as well as their national site One Christian Voice.

All praise, glory and honor to my Savior Jesus and you know, BUT GOD!!!

He Sings Over You

For as much as the Old Testament is filled with violence, rules and regulations, it is also filled with the sweetness of His love. He is with you, He saves you, He takes delight in you and He rejoices over you with singing. Imagine that, God sings!

Shalom!

A Different Perspective

fullsizeoutput_e92

Twice this morning I had conversations about the Israelites leaving Egypt. About their grumbling after their deliverance and their desire to have been left in Egypt even though Egypt meant slavery to them that was better than stepping out into the unknown where God called them by faith. In the unknown they had to completely rely on God to provide food and water for them, which He did and yet they grumbled.

The poignant point of the story Don’t Go Back To Egypt, regardless of how familiar and ‘comfortable’ that may be. I wonder if you might take a look at a different perspective?

When the Israelites left Egypt God caused them to plunder the Egyptians right before their eyes, a miracle in itself, by asking for the Egyptians gold, silver and clothes, which they gave to the Israelites without question.

Perspective shift – God blessed the Israelites as they walked out of Egypt. He BLESSED them. He blessed them as the left a place of slavery and walked into a place of faith.
Precious One, God longs to bless you in ways unimaginable. The only thing required by you is to take that first step in faith into what may be unknown to you but completely known to God and His will for you. And by all means remember to praise, thank and worship God.

“In every thing give thanks: for this is the will of God in Christ Jesus concerning you.” 1 Thessalonians 5:18.
Shalom!

Wanting More

cornucopia-1789664_640 (1)

Last night my husband and I enjoyed Wine Down a weekly Friday night Summer event hosted by a hometown vineyard and winery in our community. These gatherings are family friendly and bring together our community with live music, food (either purchased at the winery or bring your own), and wholesome, clean fun.

We decided to purchase our meal from the food vendor, which was pizza, a rare treat for us! I had the Sopressata, an Italian divinity and my husband had the Hawaiian with jalepeno. Each pizza was thin crust and had eight pieces. Before I knew it, mine was gone and I asked my husband if he wanted to share another pizza, because I simply wanted more!

What causes us, at times (perhaps many), to go off on our own to gain more rather than wait on God for His provision for our circumstances? God told David he would have given him even more but David didn’t ask for more he only took matters into his own hands.

As children of God he desires to give us yasaph. He desires to continue to add more, to surpass His increase again and again. Do we trust Him and turn to Him first? May it be so in every situation.

Shalom!

Go in Peace

fullsizeoutput_cbe

God has been speaking to my heart about the removal of grave clothes (more on that later) and healing. I was praying for a friend this morning and the Holy Spirit brought to mind the many times Jesus said, “Go in peace your faith has healed you.” My prayer today is for more of His faith to believe and His grace to accept whatever that healing looks like, not only personally but for the entire Body of Christ, for our Nation and the world.

Precious One, go in peace and may His faith, given to you to believe, heal you.

Shalom!

What do you Have to Lose?

fullsizeoutput_cb9

Going to the store always involves a list for me. Lists ensure that I won’t forget all the items I want to buy. Sometimes our walk of faith can become a list checking frenzy. Causing us to check off our time with God like a grocery list when it isn’t about a list but a relationship.

The old and new, law and grace. One give us a set of guidelines speaking to us of our need of a Savior and the other gives us the desire to live for Him because of the power that raised Him from the dead the power of the Holy Spirit.

Law and Grace walking hand in hand alive and relevant today as the day God breathed them into existence. Even the prophets have not been abolished. All remain until the day that Jesus returns to set all things right according to His will and righteousness.

Precious One please do not wait to allow the law to shower you with its knowledge of the Savior. The longer you wait draws closer to being too late. And what you have to lose is eternity.

Shalom!
