Blessed Lamb

One, blessed, lamb, these are words that I use in different variations along with other words to form my screen name for certain social websites.

Recently, my youngest lovebug had some friends over. They were commenting on my screen name for a particular website and asked if they could have the same name but with a number after the name. They proceeded to debate who would get number 1, 2 or 3 after the name. I laughed and thought it was silly and all in good fun, and an awesome opportunity to minister, hence part of the reasoning behind my particular screen names. They also refer to me and call me by my screen name, which I find endearing and not disrespectful at all.

The following day I was talking with my oldest lovebug, who happens to be attending college 2,4oo miles away from home. I was recounting to her this story of screen names and told her that her sister’s friends refer to me by a particular screen name. She laughed and said, “so do we over here!”

I started thinking a bit deeper on why I had chosen this particular name and quickly realized that I have connected this name with my identity in Christ!

“What man among you, if he has a hundred sheep and has lost one of them, does not leave the ninety-nine in the open pasture and go after the one which is lost until he finds it? “When he has found it, he lays it on his shoulders, rejoicing.“And when he comes home, he calls together his friends and his neighbors, saying to them, ‘Rejoice with me, for I have found my sheep which was lost!’ “I tell you that in the same way, there will be more joy in heaven over one sinner who repents than over ninety-nine righteous persons who need no repentance. Luke 15:4-7.

You see, when Jesus found me I was the one lost sheep wandering from the fold. I said yes to his invitation and he picked me up and put me on his shoulders, and He and all of heaven rejoiced!

My identity in Christ is blessed lamb, indeed.

Shalom.
